The team is looking to achieve victory at the beginning of its journey in the championship, in order to take a good step towards qualifying for the second round, where it will play next against Shabab Leb and Marj Al Hammam, with the group first and second place teams qualifying directly for the round of 32, along with the best 8 teams that occupy the third place out of 12 groups.
On Wednesday, the team ended its preparations to face Jubaiha, under the leadership of head coach Oday Al Saifi and his support staff, where the training focused on some technical and tactical phrases that the coach intends to apply during the match, to win the three points and record a valuable victory in the opening match of the championship.
Speaking to the media center of Etihad Club, Al Saifi confirmed that the team played a number of friendly matches recently, to determine the technical and physical readiness of the players, and to get the required benefit from them, indicating that the team relied on players mostly from the age groups of 17 and 19 years, in addition to some elements of experience to give the players moral motivation inside the green rectangle
Al Saifi pointed out that the team is ready for the first match against Jubaiha, after it played its last friendly match against Al Wahdat, which ended in a draw amid a distinguished technical performance by Etihad players, explaining that the club's aspirations are clear to be promoted to the second division league.
He continued: “Perhaps the decision of the Football Association not to allow players participating in the third division league to play in another league except for professionals during one season contributed to not attracting players to the team because they want to play in other degrees during the same year, especially since the duration of the championship is two months and the number of players is limited.”
Al Saifi stressed the importance of getting a positive result at the beginning of the journey to give the players a moral motivation to achieve the desired goal, noting that the technical staff includes goalkeeping coach Luay Al Amayra, who has great experience as a coach and former goalkeeper, along with assistant coach Tareq Al Mahsiri.
