Etihad qualified at the top of its group in the first round after defeating Shabab Marka 2-0 and Al-Majd by the same score, and drawing 2-2 with Al-Baqa'a in the first round.

The technical director of the Etihad team, Hamza Khwaj, relied on Sultan Al Amayra, Rakan Riyad, Waseem Eyad, Majid Mohammed, Qusai Al Mahthi, Amjad Hassan, Anas Abu Rayala, Bashar Al Hayasat, Majd Al Din Abu Awad, Mohammed Al Shawabka, and Amjad Al Tamimi in his starting lineup.
Despite numerous chances in the first half, Etihad was unable to convert them into goals, ending the half in a scoreless tie. In the second half, the coach made two substitutions, bringing in Omar Foda and Abdul Rahman Al Tarawneh. Etihad took the lead from the penalty spot through Qusay Al-Mahthi in the 60th minute, but the opponents equalized in the same way, forcing the two teams into a penalty shootout, which smiled on Etihad, thanks to the brilliance of goalkeeper Sultan Al Amayra, who saved a penalty and was outstanding in the match.
