Etihad Kicks off the Golden Stage with a Big Win over Al Orthodoxy in the Women's professional league

Etihad team got off to a perfect start in the golden phase of the Women's Professional League, beating their opponents Al Orthodoxy in Saturday evening's match at JFA Stadium (Polo 1) in the 11th round of the championship

The technical director of the Union team, Mary Willemsen, fielded a lineup consisting of Shireen Al Shalabi, Al Anoud Ghazi, Takia Zakaria, Yasmin Al Silawi, Tuqa Ghazi, Zeina Hazem, Preeti Rai, Hala Marrar, May Swelim, Rouzbahan Freij, and Eugenia Tetteh.

Etihad began pressing their opponents' goal from the opening minutes in search of an early lead, with Hala Marrar sending a rocket shot from distance that hit the crossbar before going in, putting her team ahead after 18 minutes.

Al Anoud Ghazi doubled the lead in the 36th minute, following up on Yasmin Al Silawi's shot, before May Swelim scored in the 37th minute with a clever chip over the goalkeeper, ending the first half with a deserved 3-0 lead for Etihad.

Etihad continued to dominate at the start of the second half, with Rouzbahan Freij scoring the fourth goal in the 47th minute after a remarkable individual effort followed by a precise shot to the right of the goal. Before Williamsen brought on three players at once from the bench, with Lina Al Saheb,Leen Al Btoush, and Nour Ahmad coming on, followed by Jinan Al Saheb before the end of the match with a score of 4-0, while Rouzbahan Freij won the award for best player of the match.

Etihad strengthened its lead by reaching 20 points, five points ahead of its closest rivals. In the next round, it will face Future Nashamal on Saturday, January 3.
